Seasonal Parking Changes
The City of Newburyport's summer parking regulations are now in effect through October 15, 2026. Downtown meter rates increase to $1.50/hour and waterfront lot daily rates are $20 for non-residents.
Key Changes for 2026
- Extended meter hours: Meters enforced 8 AM – 9 PM daily (up from 6 PM during winter).
- Resident permits: Zone A and Zone B permits available at City Hall, $25 annual fee.
- Waterfront lots: Daily rate $20 non-resident, free with valid resident sticker.
- Electric vehicle charging: Four new Level 2 stations at the Green Street Garage, first 2 hours free.
Enforcement
Parking enforcement officers patrol downtown and waterfront areas daily. Fines for expired meters are $25. Violations in fire lanes or handicap spaces carry fines of $100-$300.
